Andluca Receives $500K National Science Foundation Phase IIB Grant

Andluca is pleased to share that we have been awarded a National Science Foundation (NSF) Phase IIB grant for $500K, following on to previously awarded $1M NSF Phase II SBIR and $225K Phase I STTR grants.

This Phase IIB grant will support the continued evolution of transparent power sources that harvest ultraviolet light to enable wireless operation of smart windows and internet-of-things (IoT) devices. Our UV-harvesting materials allow for point-of-use solar power generation for Insulating Glass Units (IGUs) to power applications such as dynamic glass, motorized blinds, in-window sensors and more. These funds strengthen our ability to develop next-generation materials for a variety of fenestration and future applications – supporting a more sustainable future.

The Andluca team greatly appreciates the support of the NSF as we strive to evolve the role of glass and windows in homes and buildings through advanced materials and systems.

About the National Science Foundation's Small Business Programs:

America’s Seed Fund powered by the NSF awards $200 million annually to startups and small businesses, transforming scientific discovery into products and services with commercial and societal impact. Small businesses in an eligible technology category can receive up to $2 million in funding to support research and development (R&D), helping de-risk technology for commercial success. America’s Seed Fund is congressionally mandated through the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. The NSF is an independent federal agency with a budget of about $8.5 billion that supports fundamental research and education across all fields of science and engineering.
