Power from
the glass

The Innovio™ layer turns UV light into electricity.

Shade inside
the frame

A blackout roller shade runs in guides at the sides of the glass.

Installs without
an electrician

A local window installer fits it like any other window.

How it works

The glass powers the shade.

The Innovio™ interlayer is laminated into the outer pane. It absorbs ultraviolet light, which you can't see, and passes visible light, so the view stays clear.

  1. 1

    The glass collects UV light

The Innovio™ layer in the outer pane turns UV light into electricity.

  2. 2

A battery in the frame stores it

The battery sits in the valance at the top of the frame, so the shade also runs at night.

  3. 3

    You lower the shade

A motor raises and lowers the blackout shade. You control and schedule it from your smart home platform.

Innovio™ glass turns the outer pane into a laminated assembly that generates its own power. That power runs a shade inside the frame, so the window needs no wiring to your home.

Fit and limits

Built first for Bay Area homes with aluminum window frames.

Many Eichlers and other mid-century Bay Area homes have aluminum windows. Innovio™ windows launch in an aluminum frame, so those homes come first.

Frames
We launch with aluminum frames, and vinyl frames follow later. If your home needs vinyl, join anyway and we'll keep you posted.
Timing
First installs begin in the Bay Area in 2027. Founding homes get the first install dates. Other regions follow, and we’ll email you when yours opens.
Sizes
Large picture windows and sliders need a closer look, which we do on a short call.
Installation
A local window installer fits it like any other window. The shade needs no wiring to your home.

Questions

What homeowners ask first.

What do founding homes get?

The first 50 Bay Area homes on the list get the first install dates in 2027 and a free window consultation with our team. Joining the list is free.

Where do you install first?

The Bay Area, starting near our Oakland office, with installs beginning in 2027. If you live elsewhere, join anyway. ZIP codes on the list tell us where to go next.

Does the shade need batteries or an electrician?

The shade runs on a battery in the frame that the glass recharges, so you don't swap or charge batteries. The window installs without an electrician.

Will it work with my smart home?

Innovio™ windows are designed to connect to your smart home platform, so you control the shade and set schedules from the app you already use. We'll confirm the supported platforms before launch.

What if my home needs vinyl frames?

Aluminum frames come first and vinyl follows later. Tell us your frame type when you join and we'll send vinyl news when we have a date we can hold.
