Andluca Receives 2025 Glass Magazine Award for R&D from the National Glass Association for Innovio Glass™ with SafeFlight UV™

Rochester, NY — Andluca today announced that its Innovio Glass with SafeFlight UV™ has been selected as the winner of the 2025 Glass Magazine Award for R&D, recognizing excellence and innovation in architectural glass. The award highlights Andluca’s achievement in integrating bird safety with photovoltaic technology in a visually seamless glazing solution.

Left: What Humans See, Right: What Birds See

Innovio Glass with SafeFlight UV™ represents a new frontier in sustainable building materials. Designed for windows, façades, curtain walls, skylights, and other exterior applications, the product pairs a virtually invisible UV coating—visible to birds but clear to the human eye—with integrated solar-harvesting technology. This dual functionality prevents harmful bird collisions while generating power, aligning with the increasing demand for environmentally responsible design. This dual function does not force tradeoffs between design, conservation, or performance.

The bird-safe UV technology has been tested and validated by the American Bird Conservancy (ABC) to meet rigorous bird safety standards, while the photovoltaic elements have undergone independent energy performance and durability verification. The product has also passed industry-standard IGU and laminated glass tests, providing architects, developers, and building owners with confidence in both its safety and reliability.

“We’re honored to receive this recognition from Glass Magazine,” said Andluca CEO, Nick Davy. “Our mission has always been to merge advanced materials with practical applications that benefit both people and the planet. Innovio Glass with SafeFlight UV exemplifies that approach—helping protect wildlife, supporting more sustainable buildings, and giving architects and designers greater flexibility in building leading-edge projects.”

The Innovio Glass™ platform is in the process of being implemented by several large window and door manufacturers. The clean energy generated by Innovio Glass is utilized at the point of use to power automated privacy shades/blinds, dynamic tinting glass, security applications, and more. As Andluca’s award-winning innovation addresses a clear market need. By combining renewable energy generation and conservation in a single, high-performance product, Innovio Glass with SafeFlight UV™ positions itself as a critical material for the next generation of sustainable buildings.

The 2025 Glass Magazine Award winners will be featured in the September issue of Glass Magazine, on GlassMagazine.com. The winners will also be announced on Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 2 PM EDT in Glass Magazine Weekly. There will be an in-person award presentation in November at GlassBuild America in Orlando, Florida.
